Revolting! The sound of protest in Aotearoa

The next 'Revolting!' talks will be on Friday 5 July with Te Kupu and Makerita Urale, speaking on their own musical and documentary work. Performances by Upper Hutt Posse and Pounamu.

Revolting includes a series of panel talks discussing New Zealand's protest music. Featuring musicians, historians, artists and activists, these talks will also include performances by some of New Zealand's finest protest singers.

The third of these talks takes place on 5 July, on the ground floor of the National Library. The guest speakers include:

Te Kupu (Musician, producer, filmmaker) Musical activism and Upper Hutt Posse, 1985 – 2013.

Makerita Urale (Playwright, documentary filmmaker) The making of Waiata Whawhai, her documentary on Maori protest music.

The evening will also include performances by Pounamu (Jacquie Walters & Ariana Tikao) and Upper Hutt Posse.
