Revolting! The sound of protest in Aotearoa

Tales of resistance and rebellion is one of a series of panel talks discussing protest music in this country. The talk on the 7 June will be held on the ground floor of the National Library.

The guest speakers include:

John Lake (photo-media artist engaged in projects documenting various social groups) A History of Wellington in 10 Punk Songs: An alternative history of Wellington over the last 35 years as told through 10 songs of protest from the Wellington punk scene.

Sam Buchanan (anarchist activist) Protest and Participation: The politics of the production of music.

Don Franks(socialist agitator and professional musician) Composing and performing protest songs for industrial and political struggles of the last thirty years.

The evening will include a performance by Don of some of his protest songs.
