Kia ora! Wa Wa Wa! Benny Wenda.

A collective of Free West Papua groups invite you to join an evening of poetry, music and discussion with the leader of the Free West Papua movement, Benny Wenda.

Benny Wenda is a West Papuan independence leader and an international lobbyist for the independence of West Papua from Indonesia. He lives in exile in the United Kingdom.

West Papua have been brutally occupied by the Indonesian Government and Army since 1963. Benny Wenda was imprisoned in 2002 for his efforts to achieve freedom for his people. He escaped and was grantedpolitical asylum in Britan in 2003 where he has lobbied for the rights of his people since.

Benny Wenda will tour New Zealand in the month of May to discuss the situation in West Papua including this public event in Wellington.

Benny will be joined by New Zealand supporters, peace activists, musicians and artists in this Wellington event.

Free event, open to all.
