‘In Solidarity with Gaza’ demo
Come together with us this Saturday and stand in solidarity with those ethnically cleansed, imprisoned and murdered, yet still staunch in the face of a massacre, in Gaza.
Update (22th November 2012)
Hamas and Israel have reached a ceasefire agreement, which includes opening up border crossings between Israel and Gaza. If Israel truly adheres to the terms of the ceasefire, this will be a big victory. We are watching events unfold and hoping for the best. The struggle isn't over until the border is opened up completely and Palestinian refugees can return to their homes. This demo will go ahead as planned.
We demand an end to Israeli occupation and colonisation of all Arab lands, an end to all laws, policies and practices that discriminate against Palestinians (and other non-Jews) in Israel; and protection of Palestinian refugees’ right to return to their homes and properties.
Original event details
As Israel’s bombardment of the small coastal strip of Gaza continues and the death toll rises by the hour, we continue to be told that this is defence on the part of the Israeli state.
Israel breaks ceasefire. Israel massacres Palestinians. The world blames Palestinians.
But we say, we’re not idiots, we know better. We say that bombarding a largely defenceless civilian population with sophisticated weaponry is not war, it is murder. We say ENOUGH!
Around the world, people are taking to the streets to show their outrage at the brutal Israeli regime and the silence and complicity of their own governments. Come together with us this Saturday to do the same here in Aotearoa and stand in solidarity with those ethnically cleansed, imprisoned and murdered, yet still staunch in the face of a massacre, in Gaza.
Meet at the Bucket Fountain, Cuba Mall, Wellington at midday. Bring along signs, banners and flags, your friends, your voice and your raised fist.
Please share widely.
More details to come later in the week.
