Cuba, the United States and the Future of the Revolution

Meet Cuban leader Kenia Serrano in Auckland.

The Cuba Friendship Society is hosting a public meeting on June 10 with Kenia Serrano, the president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and a member of Cuba’s parliament.

Kenia is a dynamic leader of a new generation helping to build ties with the Cuban revolution around the world.

The meeting is on Wednesday, June 10 at the Western Springs Garden Community Hall, 956 Great North Road. The evening begins with a reception at 6.30pm, Kenia will be welcomed and then speak at 7pm, and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers afterwards.

There are also a couple of opportunities to meet with Kenia on Thursday, June 11. A meeting for union activists is being hosted by First Union at 10.30am and a round table discussion is being hosted by the New Zealand Centre for Latin American Studies at the University of Auckland at 4pm.

The publicity for the tour is can be found here. The Auckland Cuba Friendship Society is covering the cost of Kenia’s travel from Australia, where she is a guest of the Australia Cuba Friendship Societies. We are appealing for funds to help us make this visit possible. We anticipate the visit will cost about $1,000. If you wish to donate online, the New Zealand Cuba Society account number is 02-0159-0200303-00. Please drop us an email so we can confirm that donations have been received.
