Global day of protest at Brazilian embassies against GE trees – this Tuesday
12:45pm, Tuesday 3 March
Outside the Embassy of Brazil, 10 Brandon Street (between Customhouse Quay and Featherston St), Wellington

Please stand in solidarity with people around the world against GE, and come along this Tuesday lunchtime! Bring your friends!

If you’d like to, please bring banners or signs using these simple slogans (please use both English and Portuguese):

Brazil: No GMO Trees! / Brasil: Não às árvores transgênicas!

Brazil: STOP GMO Trees! / Brasil: Parem as árvores transgênicas!

If you have any GE Free banners at home, please feel free to bring those too.

The Global Justice Ecology Project have called for this emergency mobilisation because the Brazilian Biosafety Commission (CTNBio) is meeting NEXT THURSDAY to decide whether or not to legalize the commercial development of genetically engineered (GE) eucalyptus trees in the country.

A decision by CTNBio to legalize GE trees would set a dangerous global precedent and could lead to similar decisions to legalize GE trees in other countries – including New Zealand, which is one of the main countries developing GE trees.

Details on the global mobilisation can be found here: http://stopgetrees.org/emergency-day-action-stop-ge-trees-tuesday-3-march/
