Divest for Peace
Over $27 million of our tax money is invested in companies which profit from the attacks on Gaza, and from brutal human rights abuses in the West Bank.
30th August 2014, 2:30 p.m to 4:45 p.m
Saint Andrews on the Terrace, 30 The Terrace, Wellington
Don Carson, a New Zealand journalist and expert in Middle East affairs, will help us understand the human rights situation, especially in the West Bank. Don will also describe the impact of companies which profit from the wall, from checkpoints, from white phosphorous, and militarised bulldozers, among others.
Kat Goodman, a grassroots campaign organiser, will workshop practical methods to urge divestment. Resources will be provided for anyone who wants to write letters, send postcards or contact MPs.
We plan to finish off by lighting a few candles in remembrance of those who have died.
Also, if anyone wishes to arrive early, at 1:30 pm we will be doing an introductory discussion about the history of occupation and hopefully showing a short film about the occupation of the West Bank.
Divestment from the West Bank really can put pressure on Israel to make peace in Gaza. So, we call on Superfund, to DIVEST for PEACE!
All welcome. For further information, welcome to contact Kat by email:
