The Animal rights "movement" was perhaps at its most strongest in the 1980's and then again in the mid 1990's , the reason being people were deciding to act as individuals and engaging in grass roots activism and there was alot of direct action. Nowdays most people "like" facebook or attend yet another potluck or sign another useless petition. Where is the real activism for animals now days in Aotearoa? (and NZ has a good history of grassroots animal activism).
I love the term "words are meaningless -action is everything" , i hope people use this conference to really get inspired to be ACTIVE not just passive and accepting or yet another talk fest and back slapping for doing what exactly?
