Stop Adani

Stop Adani protesters were attacked by pro-mining residents as the #StopAdani convoy's reached Clermont, Queensland and one person suffered spinal injuries after a pro-coal supporter rode a horse through the #StopAdani crowd.

Since it was first mooted in 2010, people have fought to stop the Adani Carmichael Coal and Rail project in Queensland’s Galilee Basin. There have been constant protests and also a series of legal challenges by environment groups and Traditional Owners, as well as campaigns by activists calling on financial institutions to divest from the fossil fuel industry.

Eleven insurance companies, including the world’s biggest insurers like Allianz and AXA, have already ruled out insuring Adani's mine. However, Liberty Mutual Insurance is refusing to say no so on Friday 26 April people took the demand to Liberty Mutual's Headquarters in Boston.
