"Disabled woman gets reprieve" C /- 'Stuff Re Bad Policy from Housing New Zealamd
A Wahine Hauaa (Disabled Woman) should not be kicked out of an already adapted dwelling because she owes money. .What happens to the current workers jobs?? It will be a sham on Government NZDS policy,. This is NEITHER Manaakitanga nor Waitangi!!
Disabled woman gets reprieve DUBBY HENRY
“A bailiff yesterday served Roberta Mahara a notice to vacate her house in Takanini in south Auckland within 24 hours… But in an 11th-hour reprieve Housing New Zealand has called off the eviction to give social workers a chance to find Mahara a home… She is being evicted for being more than $5000 behind on rent and is also being taken to court on a variety of charges. .. Staff from Papakura Marae, Te Roopu Waiora and MP Nanaia Mahuta’s office has been searching for a fortnight on her behalf for a home with wheelchair access, but they've come up empty-handed because most social housing providers are already chock-full.”
DLANZ Comments………. As this woman is a Whaea / Mother - Maori, reminds me of ''Potiki'' by Patricia Grace, except it is Mum whom is disabled...KIA kaha and tautoko / support to this woman
I feel this shows how Able bodied / Maaroherohe organizations are too prone to let money (Te Ao Rawa) materialism get in the way of ethics....Its obvious not to throw this Wahine out on the street...I don't think this government policy on Housing is either fair or just as Glen Innes shows….Tariana Turia, who is both Minister of Disability AND Associate Minister of Housing responsible for HCNZ and DlANZ DO NOT accept the official line given. In fact it appears like a mum just struggling to keep it together.
What is sad is seeing a woman struggling in a society that itself is not honest...The policy is to punish those and profit others...MP's get Xmas bonus while kids live in poverty??....Paula Bennet, Tariana Turia and the previous Dyson and Dalzell have sat on Ministerial salaries and never really honored the platform of the Ministry if Disability's Whakanui Oranga NZDS 2001 1.4 Ethics…
At the time of writing to you, it has been 13 years since the introduction of The New Zealand Disability Strategy (April 2001) – Whakanui Oranga meaning; “Making a World of Difference”. The document set 15 Objectives where this Sovereignty was supposed to have provided a holistic and inclusive environment, with Crown policies of good practice, to ensure legislation as International Human Rights Covenants include the rights of disabled people.
Of the 15 Objectives, and its vision of a non-disabling society, 4 points are clear
• The Principles of Waitangi are recognized.
• Legislation, policies and other activities should enhance, rather than disable the lives of people with impairments.
• Community based services ensure that disabled people are supported in their own communities and institutionalization is eliminated.
• Disabled people are treated equitably, regardless of gender, age, cultural background, type of impairment or when and how the impairment was acquired.
Under the special relationship between Maori and the Crown, there was supposed to have been a partnership at all levels of service delivery to promote the protection and improvement of Maori well-being.
These HCNZ Policies Suck if ‘They’ don’t honor Whakanui Oranga NZDS
