DLANZ Sports Thoughts - Sport Comments from a Disabled view.

Firstly 'Hats off to Peter Fats'. A sad passing of Peter Fatialofa will be greatly felt across the Samoan and New Zealand communities....Rest in Peace a Good Man.

Rugby, Marathons are just some of the topics covered in this 1st sports edition. A fit and healthy body is good for the mind....Keep smiling.

Rugby
Firstly 'Hats off to Peter Fats'. A sad passing of Peter Fatialofa will be greatly felt across the Samoan and New Zealand communities and not just for rugby alone....Rest in Peace a Good Man.

I watched the All Blacks play Japan last weekend and saw a Japanese young lady sing our National anthem in Reo Maori; a Pakeha lad singing the Japanese anthem AND Ritchie leading the Haka, when Maori players were in the team. ...unsure of what to make of this, however an enjoyable game. Followed by the French test and the Maori All Blacks beating the USA it seems we're in good spirits....Congratulations to all.

Marathons Auckland and New York
A big shout out to Charlotte Nasey who, now in her 'senior' years just completed her 100th Marathon. It was great to see this lady running alongside her whanau, as a symbol of healthy living in Aotearoa NZ. Also to the group of runners with disabilities and their supporters who ran at the New York Marathon. Following last's year’s cancellation and the trauma in Boston, these people must have been rearing to go..., Cool Running guys.

Summary of Support for Other Sports*
Best wishes to the Kiwi Rugby League to regain the World Cup; The NZ All Whites playing 'the beautiful game' in Mexico for another World Cup and; to the Winter Olympic and Para-Olympic athletes who have qualified to compete. While there are many who dispute these Games being held in Moscow, no one can or should dispute your efforts Kia Kaha and Go Well/

Congratulations to Lauren Boyle on her world performing swim...A World Champion and alongside the likes of Para Olympian Sophie Pascoe etc, one can see the sport of swimming is gold with or without disabilities..........Keep smiling Dougie
