Tena koutou,

in less than two weeks, the trial against Taame, Emily, Rangi and Urs  
will start in the Auckland High Court. The four are the remaining  
defendants facing charges in relation to the state terror raids of  
15th October 2007. 'October 15th Solidarity' is of course supporting  
the four during the trial, which is said to last three months.

There are a number of events in the lead-up to the trial for you to  
find out more and offer support. More information below.

Once the trial is underway, we are planning to send out weekly email  
newsletters and put daily updates on our website:

1. Auckland: Trial starts in the High Court - 13 Feb

The trial is scheduled to start in the High Court in Auckland on  
Monday, 13 February 2012 at 10am. There is a call-out circulating for  
people to come to the court from 9am for a picket outside. Cnr  
Waterloo Quadrant & Parliament Street.

There is still a pending applications by the defendants to start the  
trial one day later, on 14 Februay. If this applicaiton is successful  
(and we should know more in the next couple of days) we will send out  
another newsletter.

2. Auckland: Benefit screening of Operation 8 - 2 Feb

We are putting on a film screening and dinner at Black Heart Info  
shop, it?s a solidarity event for the Operation 8 defendants still on  
trial and those already acquitted.

Thursday, 2 February 2012, 7pm, Black Heart Infoshop, 543 Karangahape  
Road, Auckland

All profits will be split between October 15th solidarity and black  
heart info shop to help with expenses in running this community space.
We will be showing the Operation 8 Deep in the forest documentary and  
dinner will be provided as well, tickets will be sold before the event  
which is on the 2nd of February.

There is limited space so tickets will be sold in advance at 10$ waged  
and 5$ unwaged, tickets need to be purchased by the 29th of january,  
there will be a small amount of door sales available as well but  
buying a ticket will ensure a seat. If you want to buy a ticket please

3. Wellington: Urewera Raids: Trial update and public forum - 3 Feb

When: Friday, 3 February 2012
Time: 6pm-8pm
Where: Mezzanine Meeting Room, Central Library, Wellington

The trial of the four remaining defendants in the Urewera raids case is
due to begin in the Auckland High Court on 13 February. Come along to
our public forum and update to find out what the issues are and why this
is the one of the most important political cases in the history of this
country.

Speakers will address issues relating to Tuhoe's history with the Crown,
the coverage of the case by the media, as well as the specifics of the
case and trial to come.


4. Melbourne: Benefit Screening of Operation 8 with Gary Foley - 9 Feb

Operation 8: Deep in the forest. February 9. 7pm. Nova cinema 4. Lygon  
Street, Melbourne. Tickets and payment on the door. $15 all profits go  
towards support for the Urewera 4 still on trial. Please reserve  
tickets via hayley@riseup.net. Please do not reserve more tickets than  
you need. See you there!

Taame, Rangi, Emily and Urs, are the last to still face charges from  
the state terror raids of 15th October 2007 and their trial will start  
on 13th February 2012 in the Auckland High Court. This date has been  
confirmed which means we all have less than ONE MONTH to get ready and  
do what we can to support.

5. Bike ride to Auckland

A bike ride from the Bay of Plenty to Auckland is being organised in  
the lead-up to the trial. More information will be available soon.


6. Auckland: Public Forum - 14 Feb

A public forum will be held in Auckland on Tuesday, 14 February 2012.  
The venue, time and speakers are stil to be confirmed.

aftermath of the raids. It does both support work and political
