You can't drink money - you can't drink shit!

A 17-year-old was arrested in Christchurch at a protest when he jumped onto John Key's car and according to the Otago Daily Times "badly denting the roof." A 100+ strong protest 'greeted' the PM at a public forum. They chanted "You can't drink money, you can't drink sh*t, you can't steal our votes and get away with it!"

The protester was arrested and has been charged with intentional damage. He is due to appear in court on June 16.

The protest was in relation to a government decision to replace Environment Canterbury councillors with appointed commissioners.

His rage and anger at this government is how people across Aotearoa currently feel. It is ta collective rage at this rotten system. A message of solidarity to our young comrade in Christchurch!

Nation-wide protests are planned for this Saturday against water privatisation. A list of events can be found here.

what about the so called

what about the so called activists on here ,when are they going to act against this horrid government ,or are they all busy talking and writing..heres a 17 yr old who has more balls than most on here...

With all respect for the protestors anger ...

With all respect for the protestors anger I must say that this was a totally stupid action he did! His young age may explain this. The car is most likely a car belonging to the government, hence it is owned by us all. Denting the roof of a car may appear to be headline catching activism, but it is simply not thought through and not worth giving much value to.

If you want to protest and take action, do think a bit beforehand and do not expose yourself to a situation where you give the police an excuse to crack down on you for breaking the law in such a manner.

I can accept disorderly behaviour and such matters, but intentionally causing senseless damage is hard to justify at all times.

Having myself been involved in protests and charged with supposedly "disorderly behaviour" I did not get much support from any other activist or other persons. So why should I have much sympathy for this kind of stupid action?

It may have been a better idea to smear some faeces onto the car, because the word "sh*t" was already quoted as being used in chants. That would have been a nuisance of sorts but not wilful damage!

Put your money where your

Put your money where your mouth is and shit in a bag then. I'll match you turd for turd and we can smear it on some government property. We can make beautiful music together.

Cow dung or dog poo may do it, so no need to squat over a bag

Cow dung or dog poo may do it, so no need to squat over a bag! Otherwise we all learn by experience and I am sure the young activist using the PM's car for trampoline exercises will take a different type of action next time around.

exactly

Yes, please don't be overly critical because someone did not engage in an action you would deem appropriate.  If you think something would be more worthwhile then go ahead and do it, I'd support you, even if it was not my chosen tactic.

While we need to stand by

While we need to stand by that guy and show him solidarity during his time in court, there's nothing wrong with pointing out that it was a bloody stupid thing to do.

I say this as someone not much older than him who's done a number of bloody stupid things in my time.

In your opinion..radical and

In your opinion..radical and Alastair...personally and speaking for myself and not the radical-er-and-holier-than-thou "we"..I Liked it! Good Job Jumping-Man!
