The Morning Star flag flies in Sydney
Marrickville and Leichhardt Councils in Sydney flew the Morning Star Flag on their Town Halls in solidarity with the West Papuan people on the 1st December.
This is the 3rd year that Leichhardt Town Hall flew the flag and the second year that Marrickville raised the Morning Star on Petersham Town Hall. AWPA congratulations the two councils on their show of support.
Leading up to 1st December a number of organisations sponsored an information night on West Papua on the 27th November in Sydney including the showing of Forgotten Bird of Paradise by Dominic Brown . Groups supporting the evening included HopeStreet Urban Compassion, Australia West Papua Association (Sydney).
From AWPA Newcastle
the Newcastle City Council also flew the Morning Star flag for the 5th consecutive year . It was flying alongside the World Aids Day flag, a fitting companion to the flag of West Papua with its significantly high incidence of HIV/AIDS
