Marrickville  and Leichhardt Councils in Sydney flew the Morning Star Flag on their Town Halls in solidarity with the West Papuan people on the 1st December.

This is the 3rd year that Leichhardt Town Hall  flew the flag and the second year that Marrickville raised the Morning Star on  Petersham Town Hall. AWPA congratulations the two councils on their show of support.

Leading up to 1st December a number of organisations sponsored  an information night on West Papua  on the 27th November in Sydney including the showing of  Forgotten Bird of  Paradise by  Dominic Brown . Groups supporting the evening included HopeStreet Urban Compassion, Australia West Papua Association (Sydney).

From AWPA  Newcastle

the Newcastle City Council  also flew the Morning Star flag for the 5th consecutive year .  It was flying alongside the World Aids Day flag, a fitting companion to the flag of West Papua with its significantly high incidence of HIV/AIDS
