Explosive Expressions Art Exhibition opens with a crush, not a bang.
Last night, the long-awaited Explosive Expressions Art Exhibition opened at Thistle Hall, Te Aro's favourite community venue, with crowds gathered outside waiting for the doors to open before the 6pm advertised time.
The artworks have been viewable on-line for some weeks now, but were well worth queueing to get into the Gallery to see face-to-paint.
After the welcome given by Tame Iti, who was supported in waiata by his Tuuhoe whanau, guests were invited to enjoy refreshments created by the now well-experienced Food not Bombs cooks, who have been providing event catering at the many and varied fundraising endeavors of the past two years.
All items of art are donated for sale by auction, to be held on Saturday at 7pm; proxy bids may be placed online through http://www.oct15thsolidarity.info
The Gallery is open daily 12noon to 6pm, until Saturday evening.
More pix to come; please upload any taken during the evening.
