"Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests across Aotearoa

in

A support website for the arrestees has been created with information on support groups, background details, how to write to prisoners and more, at http://www.civilrightsdefence.org.nz/.

Solidarity actions continue to be held across Aotearoa and around the world for those arrested, raided, searched and questioned during and since the Monday October 15th raids.

Auckland saw 400 people march from Aotea Square to the Auckland Central Police Station, where the New Zealand flag was ripped down. Chants included "Tame Iti out, Rickards in!". [ Report + Photos ]

In Christchurch, 300 people marched from Cathedral Square to the Christchurch Central Police Station, with chants of "Ka whawhai tonu matou - Ake Ake Ake!" reverberating through the streets in one of the largest protests in the city for years. [ Video ] [ Photos ]

Around 60 people assembled outside the Labour Party offices in Dunedin to show their solidarity with those arrested. [ Video ] [ Photos ]

Protests have also been held overseas, where 30 people demonstrated in Berlin, Germany, outside the New Zealand Embassy [ Report + Photos ]. A solidarity banner was also displayed on the island of Santorini, Greece [ Photos ]. A solidarity demonstration with the arrestees was held Monday lunchtime in Montreal, Canada. [ Report + Photos ]

Updates

6:30pm - TV3 is reporting that all of the arrestees are likely to appear in the Auckland District Court on November 1st.

Tuesday 23rd - More events have been added for the Global Day Of Action on Saturday 27th and beyond (including a poster for the Auckland protest). If there's nothing in your centre, get organising!

A solidarity demonstration with the arrestees was held Monday lunchtime in Montreal, Canada. [ Report + Photos ]

4:26pm - Bail has just been granted in the Auckland District Court for Rongomai Pero Pero Bailey, one of the Auckland arrestees. His lawyer successfully argued that the evidence presented by the Police did not justify the arms charges he faced.

From Stuff.co.nz: Defence lawyer Mary Kennedy told the court Bailey would be in grave danger if he was sent back to jail.

She said his co-defendant Jaime Lockett had received injuries while on remand in Mt Eden Prison.

Bailey's bail conditions included surrendering his passport but he doesn't have one; not to contact his co-defendants or Crown witnesses and not to come within 30 kilometres of Ruatoki.

Wednesday 24th - Friends of the Wellington prisoners have released a statement with some background on those arrested. [ Background From Friends Of Wellington “Terror” Arrestees ]

4:54pm - Tame Iti was refused bail this morning in the Rotorua District Court. He will re-appear tomorrow in the same court, where the Police will apply to have his case moved to Auckland.

5:16pm - Scoop has an article about the treatment of the 4 Wellington prisoners and the difficulties their lawyers have been facing. [ "Terror" Accused To Be Transferred Before Appeal ]

Thursday - Hundreds of people marched in Rotorua today in support of 3 prisoners, including Tame Iti, who appeared in the Rotorua District Court.

The home of a 70 year old male socialist in Bastion Point was raided by 8 carloads of Police Thursday afternoon. The man has been a political activist for decades, and was one of the organisers of the union green ban on Bastion Point in the 1970s.

Name supression on another of the prisoners has been lifted. 19 year old Omar Hamed faces 3 charges of illegal posession of the firearm.

What if ... ?

What if the police are right?

What if these 'activists' really were planning to murder people?

What then?

Re: What if ... ?

What if the police are right with what? With not telling the public what the 17 are actually accused of?
What if you are an idiot? What then?

You didn't answer my question.

What if the 'activists' really were planning to kill people?

Re: You didn't answer my question.

If those people who have been arrested were actually planning murder - when, as McCarten says, many of them are vegans who don't approve of murdering animals much less humans - then I will eat any item of clothing you recommend to me to the size of a sock or higher. The mere fact that you can ask that question shows that you don't have any clue who the people arrested are and why what you're saying is totally ludicrous.

Re: Re: You didn't answer my question.

Some of the are probably innocent, but some of them are possibly involved in activities that warranted police action. Certainly, the police had jsutification for taking action - they knew some Maori speratists were playing with guns in the backwoods, and they claim to have intercepted communications talking about declaring war on New Zealand and killing white people. That would have been enough to warrant some sort of action, don't you agree?

The police may have over-reacted, seizing people who were totally innocent of direct involvement with the Iti and his group, but they had grounds for taking action.

Equally, the calls for all 17 to be released immediately is a similar over-reaction by the left. As I've said before, I'm unsettled by the certainty envinced by so many people posting here - how are they so sure that Iti and co are totally innocent? They might be, but it merits investigation, not an assumption of blamelessness.

Re: Re: Re: You didn't answer my question.

Whether Tame Iti was planning to shoot cops or not, the Terrorism laws are still bullshit, and holding people without bail or trial for more than a year while the cops try to rustle up evidence under such laws is bullshit, and secret evidence is bullshit.

In a democratic country, there would be no terrorism laws, all the evidence would be in the public arena by now, Tame and his mates would have been released on bail pending trial. Surely that is something we can all agree with, no matter what our opinions on any putative "armed struggle" nucleus in the Uruweras?

Re: Re: Re: Re: You didn't answer my question.

A democratic country menaced by terrorists would need anti-terrorism laws. That they were applicable in this case is doubtful, but that doesn't negate the need for them. After all, if the French decide to blow up another greenpeace ship in Auckland harbour, it would be nice to be able to clobber them with the anti-terror laws before they manage to do it, yes?

As for evidence being released into the public arena, that could prejudice any trial so would have to be approached caustiously. Yes, I, as a concerned citizen, would like to know wat was going on - I live in Palmerston North and some people were arrested there. If there was a terror threat in Palmy, I'd liek to know about it. At the same time, in the interests of giving the accused fair treatment before the law, it is better than the evidence isn't bandied about and dissected in the media.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: You didn't answer my question.

No, we don't need anti-terror laws. Plotting to blow up a ship is thoroughly illegal anyway without adding new laws designed to provoke terror rather than stop it.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: You didn't answer my question.

If you think that secret evidence - i.e. evidence that the defence isn't allowed to know about so it can't challenge properly - is in the interests of the DEFENDENTS, then you really are on another planet. As for a "fair trial", who do you think is leaking all that stuff about "napalm bombs" and "IRA training manuals" to the media? Hint: it's not people well-disposed to the defence. The cops are already selectively leaking stuff that make people like you panic and support their civil liberties being taken away - this right should be taken away from them by having ALL the facts that the judge has been allowed to see in the public arena, like they are with every other trial. Why "special treatment" in this case?

Anti-terror laws should be better described as "laws against freedom of speech and freedom of association". Anything else that might be called terrorism - plotting to kill, maim or destroy property - are, as has been seen elsewhere, already illegal, so what do we need new laws for - except to intimidate non-conformist political thought?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: You didn't answer my question.

If it doesn't bother you that you're not allowed to even know why bail has been denied to most of the suspects - and therefore why, innocent or guilty, they will spend at least a year in jail before they get to trial - then you are truly one of those who would sacrifice freedom for security and thus will get neither.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: You didn't answer my question.

It isn't certain that they'll be charged under the terrorism act, though, and they won't be spending a year in jail, I'll bet. Most of them'll be out in early November, facing firearm charges.

Not answering questions

Since when is the Left "over-reacting"? The coppers are obviously lying about some of the arrested, accusing them of things that everyone knows they wouldn't do. Why, then, should we give any credence to these professional perjurers when they make accusations about others?

While they have been free with vague but defamatory accusations, the coppers have not come forward with any evidence to back them up. Maybe those "unsettled" by the coppers' scare stories should calm down & take a dose of "innocent till proven guilty". And don't hold your breath waiting for the coppers to come through.

Re: Not answering questions

I wasn't "unsettled" by "police scare stories" but the automatica assumption that iti and co. are blameless. Some - most? - of those arrested are probably 'guilty' of nothing more than naive association, but some may have more to hide. I've asked this before without getting an answer - why are people so certain that there isn't something behind the allegations? Why are you so trusting of people who may have agendas at odds with what they tell you. you're quick to disbelieve the police, but you should turn some of that admirable sceptcism on your fellows.

Re: Re: Not answering questions

We're certain that some of those arrested are innocent. The cops aren't making any distinction between the arrestees, so if they were wrong about some, we have no reason to think they were right about any of them, unless they come up with some compelling evidence to the contrary.

Re: Re: Not answering questions

Lurgee

How do we know that you aren't a terrorist. Short answer, we don't. However, in the absence of any firm evidence that you are, we assume you aren't. A bit like we are doing with Tame Iti and the other arrestees. A society that allows armed enforcers to arrest people on suspicion of being terrorists without any evidence that this is so, is not a society I want to live in.

Re: Re: Re: Not answering questions

A man is presumed innocent until proven guilty

Re: Re: Re: Re: Not answering questions

You don't actually understand what the presumption of innocence means, do you?

It doesn't mean that a person is presumed innocent at every stage of legal proceedings - otherwise, no-one could ever be arrested for anything:

"Well, you're standing over your wife's body with a knife in your hand that exactly matches the 23 stab wounds in her torso, but I must presume your innocent so I'll let you go."

The presumption of innocence means that when the case comes to court, the defendant does not have to prove that he or she didn't commit the crime - the prosecution must show that they did, or at least very likely that it is likely they did.

Re: Re: Re: You didn't answer my question.

How can evidence be suppressed from the media and the public, when no terrorism charges are being laid? Maybe the Charges should proceed and the Courts decide in the innocence or guilt of the matter. In this way we would all hear the evidence and make up our own opinion.
Mind you Winston Peters offered a challenge for the defendants to waive their rights and release the information..funny that no offers as yet. I will not hold my breath. We will all just pay more tax for Tame Iti''s legal bills!
Maybe the media can stop making him a the center of attention for a few days.

RESISTANCE IS NOT TERRORISM

RESISTANCE IS NOT TERRORISM
A report on world wide repression
from Bologna to New Zealand

On Saturday 13 October at around 04:00 am, in Piazza Verdi, Bologna,
Italy, a girl was sleeping. Police officers awoke her and told her to
leave. The Police judged her attitude to be "abnormal" when she refused,
and called a team of Psychiatric nurses who, facilitated by the police,
tried to force her into an ambulance for Obligatory Sanitary Treatment, or
in other words, to be committed to a psychiatric prison.
5 by standing individuals tried to obstruct the nurses and police in
solidarity with the girl who was not consenting to being put into the
vehicle. She had committed no crime and therefore legally had the right to
refuse to be taken.

More police arrived and responded with violence beating 2 of the 5 and
also drawing a gun on them. After a struggle, the other 3 individuals
managed to escape onto via S. Vitale where police found them, beat them
badly, handcuffed and arrested them. The noises woke up some residents who
tried to stop the police violence and almost got arrested themselves.

A witness contacted Blackout Radio (Torino) in order to tell the facts
directly: he confirmed the violence from the police to the 5 and that
during the scuffle one police officer lost his hand cuffs and concluded
with out reason that one of the individuals had stolen them.

The accusations against the five are heavy:
Theft of police property (handcuffs),
property damage (of the vehicle into which a girl was been forced)
and resisting arrest.
3 are in detention and have been moved to the jail of the Dozza.
And 2 have been put into house arrest.

On the following night at around 1:00am 6 people were arrested in the
Bologna University district suspected of graffiti and detained for 36
hours.
One of the girls was released after 12 hours or so as she was under 18
years old. The other Woman was held in solitary confinement for 28 hours
in a tiny cell aprox. 3 by 2 meters with blood and shit smeared all over
the walls... the others were denied food, water and toilet for more than
12 hours straight...

They were brought to court Tues 16th, and over 12 more hours of detention
and process, charged under Terrorism acts with: destroying a Bank-o-mat
ATM machine, damaging an ancient stone, smashing a butcher window and a
whole mismatching assortment of graffiti in diverse locations and with
diverse materials including things which happened after their official
time of arrest.
(The judge was the same who some months before tried to charge a group of
people under Terrorism acts for squatting a house! The defendants won that
case though.)

Enragingly, 2 of the 5 were sentenced to 10 months in prison because
they had past records in Italy for "political crimes". The other 3 were
let free under the conditions that they stay out of Bologna for 4
months,
The police, lawyers and judge were not interested in proving who did what,
or if any one of these individuals did any of these crimes. It was stated
clearly in the court in so many words: Than these individuals need to be
punished for the ideas and beliefs they supposedly have against the state
and for anarchy, and because of their supposed connection to other
recently arrested "Anarchist Terrorists" in Bologna (referring to the 5
from the Piazza Verdi incident).
The only reason the 3 released were not sent to prison, it would seem, is
because there wasn't enough proof in past records that they believed in
insurrection.

Twice in the hours the group were detained, a manifestation of 40 or so
people passed the police detention center in solidarity with all prisoners
shouting: TUTTI LIBERE!! (Free them all!!)

Out side the court there were lines of anti-riot police blocking the
entrance and 20 or so people were waiting in solidarity, some of them had
been there for over 12 hours....
Once the 2 sentenced to prison had been driven away the manifestation
moved to the prison to continue an all night vigil of solidarity, throwing
fireworks against the prison walls and shouting for the companer@s inside
to hear.

Another individual in Switzerland was arrested this week accused of
painting a message on an Italian embassy in solidarity with the situation
in Bologna, but has been released.

The Italian news coverage has been shallow and sensational. Only
reinforcing the lies and opinions of the court and police. Fascist
journalists seem to be the only ones there are, or the only ones
interested in this story. And to top it all off, the Left political party
of Italy has extended its official solidarity to the Bologna Police
department, having been attacked by anarchist terrorists.

In these same days in New Zealand many activists from indigenous rights
and environmental campaigns around NZ have been arrested under new
Terrorism and Weapons acts. The police raided social centers and homes all
over the country.
The arrested are being detained waiting for trials to begin, denied bail
and under name suppression. There is an international day of solidarity
declared for Saturday 27th of Oct. Many demos of solidarity have been
taking place all over NZ and also in Australia, Germany and Greece.

We know well which are the real crimes of our friends and companions:
To have chosen with courage to stand up against this system of legal
violence, repression and exploitation.
Being conscious that fighting is necessary in order to not be silent
accomplices in the injustices of our societies.
Resistance is not Terrorism. Terrorism in its original conception is a
political tactic for a government to use to control its people.
We will not be frightened by the terrorism of the state... we have an
international community based on solidarity that extends beyond the logic
of capital and forges connections in a web unfathomably diverse and
beautiful....
To the arrested goes solidarity and affection from all around the world.
No one is free while anyone is behind bars!!!

Re: RESISTANCE IS NOT TERRORISM

State terrorism is none the less terrorism, and indeed Bushs'phoney 'War on Terrorism'is becomming globally practiced by meembers of Nato and their oppressive organs of state rule. This is the way the axis powers achieved state power in the twentieth century, simply by deceit, lies, and state terror. Bushco is the worlds, number one terrorist and all the stooges following his orders are committing war crimes against the peoples such as targeting and jailing innocent people. Geneva Conventions state that targeting civilians is a war crime. It would be well to release the five detainees and allow them freedom before the misery consumes us all. It is a truism that the Roman Slavholders Empire was a first practioner of slaveholder pens, now named as prisons. Too bad the new millenium wasn't occasion enough in religio belief of the state to have them abolished, and organic agricultural communes put in their place. Seems the Bushco war on terror is unjustly causing the worst forms of oppression to re-emerge as at the time of the fascist Mussolini. The lessons of history have not been learned as the war crimes mount throughout the Holyland, and the peoples witness the jailing of dissent globally.

Re: Raise your voice before you lose your soul - protests across

This is a long way from the original purpose of the commonwealth of nations. It seems full of the U.S. Empire itch, which just can"t wait to wage war on terror by initiating it from the state. Long way from liberation, such as Canada's First Div. fought so hard for. Just another string oppressive moves designed to implement the programmes of the extreme rich to make sure that the organic movenent is ended and the programme of the super power number one implemented which is motivated by coal, gas, oil and atomic energy to the detriment of the planets livability. Goodbye green ecological power of electricity by wind, tidal, and solar power. All must fall to Bushco and his world war for more pollution profits. Viva social liberation. End pollution war, not Bushco's endless wars for more pollution. Organic Communes not Prisons (formally called Roman slavholders pens to end the matriarchy). Prisons are a war machine, and the first cdn div. says to end war you must end the machinery of war. Censored from global history by empire builders. Free the arrestees.

Brass Razoo solidarity band busked between the official acts at the Wellington Folk Festival.
Our brief appearance netted $421.60 to send the defendants legal aid.
We noticed a particular supportive interest from younger people.

Our efforts meshed in with the initiative of a bloke who had printed and distributed cards reading "Absent Friend"; one of the accused is a skilled musician who was supposed to have been featuring in a band at the festival. There was a a moving solidarity speech from the bandleader of that group. He forthrightly told the audience from the stage:
"This guy's an anarchist,a peace activist and a musician AND HE'S ONE OF US!"

Brass Razoo solidarity band are working class heroes!

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

So one of the 17 has been released on bail "because of insufficient evidence". It's likely the rest will be released soon for similar reasons.
Maybe this development will shut up all those rednecks, cops, cop-lovers and conspiracy fantasists who have been telling us the Police know what they are doing and that these people are guilty, even before they have been charged.

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

It's a bit of a worry that one of the activists has been assaulted by an inmate, maybe the idea is to try & scare people into not being activists.

Re: Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - prote

Yeah - the government has a lot of control over people in prisons. That's why they can stop them committing crimes all the time... Hang on...

Lockett got beaten up in prison because prisons are nasty places filled with violent people.

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

Well the Sydney protest was a dead loss - was there actually anyone in Sydney organising it, or did someone just post the thing in the hope that someone would turn up. By my count there was just me there.

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

The Sydney protest is tomorrow, not today - probably explains why noone else was there!

From the feature:

"Sydney, Australia: Public meeting & demonstration on Thursday October 25th, 5:30pm outside NZ Consulate-General, 55 Hunter St, Sydney"

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

Chris Trotter has made a new attack on the arrestees:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/4248869a1861.html
Why is he being allowed into the defence committee meetings in Auckland?

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

Maybe they needed to have one sane person present.

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

It's good to have the coward Trotter there so he can see an activist community united against the likes of him. The last meeting he didn't dare open his mouth, and if he had said anything stupid with the actual family members of his imaginary terrorists present, there were "bouncers" present to deal with him.

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

Tame Iti should be locked up he's a disgrace to NZ and his people. Clearly he and the others are not terrorists, but that doesn't excuse armed idiocy. The police were right to react but maybe they were heavy handed.

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

The police are always heavy handed, what's the difference who it is with- they are arseholes.
Tame is a racist, and with all racists needs to be kicked into the darkest hole we can find.
Jamie Lockett is a prize dickhead, it is people like him that started the KKK- he is a waste of skin.

Re: Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - prote

Do some sociology studies and stop name-calling! Human nature means that members of every human group hold prejudices about any and every other human group. In NZ, only one such group - NOT Maori - has the power and state force to reinforce and maintain those prejudices. Whites (Pakeha or European if you prefer)- individuals and institutions - benefit from 'white privilege.' While he openly defies any or all colonialist governments or insults Pakeha politicians / 'heads of state', Tame Iti is not a racist. He has neither the required political or economic) power nor white privilege.

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

Vegans hate people; they want to end the suffering of animals.
Many Vegans believe that people are like goats on and Island, they over populate and eat themselves out of existence and soon destroy everything.
Vegans have no problem with the notion of culling back the human population; they are the most extreme when it comes to anything to do with animal rights. Vegans have no problems with violence, and it is a surprise to me that people think that there love of animals stretches to a love of people; it in fact works the other way. They are social misfits, mostly due to their hatred of people, who they see as the cause of animal suffering-
The fact vegans are involved in this, is of concern- they are with out doubt nutters

Paranoid nonsense about vegans

The concept of animal rights is based on the obvious fact that people *are* animals. We are mammels, members of the primate family. Animal rights includes human rights by definition.

Re: Paranoid nonsense about vegans

i guess you used to be an ape too...

"Tame Iti should be locked up he's a disgrace to NZ and his people. Clearly he and the others are not terrorists, but that doesn't excuse armed idiocy. The police were right to react but maybe they were heavy handed."

Being an idiot isn't a crime, otherwise the author of this would be locked up! State sanctioned terrorism by the police is never right.

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

vegans aren't nutters. I wouldn't eat an animal any more or less than I would eat a human. freedom for all animals doesn't equate to hatred of humans.

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

Freedom for all animals at what cost.

Whats your bottom line, would you kill to protect an animal from abuse?

Re: Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - prote

Duh humans are animals too! Vegans advocate for human rights as well, and of course don't use animal products from humans either :P

Re: Re: Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - p

Duh, vegans are unstable, they obsess about the human impact on animals, worms, snails etc- humans, count for nothing in their wild machinations
The ones that are diagnosed, don't take there medication, because of the animal testing regimes etc All of them suffer anxiety, which spirals out of control and is exuberated by the effects of their b12 deficiency.
.As a result you have group of chemically imbalance”(paranoid schizophrenic, bi-polar”, or generally mentally deficient people running around causing havoc -and in this case with frikken unregistered firearms.
It was fortunate that the self medicating laziness, that typifies people like Lockett Iti rarely do anything right- they seem to have attracted every spook in town to their not so secret gay bash bush retreat. Err maybe that can be there defence, they are not terrorists, but were running gay fantasy weekends for feebies in the bush- like it was a bit of lads weekend thing wasn’t it, e.g. one step away from joining a rugby club

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul"

who is this nutter picking on vegans?!!well im a vegan and also a registered nurse,i love animals but i also care for humans,i suggest you crawl back into whatever hole you came from!

Sydney Event

About 50 people protested outside the NZ consulate in Sydney. photos
Speakers from the local indigenous mob, a Maori activist and Sunil who was arrested in the post-G20 terror raids and a couple of socialists. Since I'm really bad at names and didn't write any of them down I'll have to leave it to someone else to fill in the details sorry. Moz

Re: Sydney Event

Why do they all look like day release patients?

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

Duh, vegans are unstable, they obsess about the human impact on animals, worms, snails etc- humans, count for nothing in their wild machinations. "I have no doubt you would prefer using products tested on young children over those tested on animals"
It was fortunate that the self medicating laziness, that typifies people like Lockett Iti means that they rarely do anything right- thus they seem to have attracted every spook in town to their not so secret gay bash, bush retreat. Err maybe that can be thier defense, they are not terrorists, but were running gay fantasy weekends for feebies in the bush- like it was a bit of lads weekend thing wasn’t it, one step away from joining a rugby club

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

to above poster, would you like some free counselling?

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

Omar Hamed - this is a real kiwi name init, seems like the same people who turned their own countries into shit holes want to make NZ just like home.

It's about time these people had their citizenship revoked, this includes lockett.
I think the term is Persona non Grata

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

his name is no more or less "kiwi" than the name "chris trotter".

i don't know about racism though. i don't think its a very kiwi value.

Re: Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - prote

No he is a wog, and should piss of back to Palestine or where ever the sad fucker comes from, live in the rubble his forefathers created- after he gets out of prison that is. It beggars belief that after coming to a place like New Zealand, which heaped opportunities on him, a country which is refuge for many who have suffered under oppression and terror, and what does he do : “become involved in a wannabe terror group”- - what a selfish little cunt.

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

I think he is of greek - arab origin. Hopefully in prison he will have the opportunity to get in touch with his greek roots. That'll teach these little pricks to fuck with our country.

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

Big Billy Goat Gruff says: fuck off back under your bridge you fascist troll! I know Omar and he is not a 'wog' (whatever you mean by that), a terrorist or selfish.

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

Omar is a shit, how dare he come to this country and start the middle eastern bullshit here

He has set back race relations a 100 years, throw the punk out after he has done his time.

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

Q: Who called the troll a nutter?
A: Who called the nutter a troll?

Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests acro

There sure are some f'wits around, though it's clear here that none of them are activists.

"...and is exuberated by the effects..."

roflol!

signed,

an assuredly exuberant vegan, who just marched.

It was very low key. Too quiet. Lawful protest sure is unsatisfying. Guess I must be some kind of 'terrorist' then, eh?

TINO RANGATIRATANGA!

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

You can march all you like, in fact I prefer it when you do- most of you are so fat that the exercise can’t help but to do you some good- "although the marches looks more like the rambling shuffle of day release patients.

Now if you could just knock of the pot, you might snap out of the paranoid persecution fantasy you’re living in.
Try power walking instead, and reciting this mantra as you go "I must respect to be respected; I must first be a good listener if I wish to be heard"

Just say no to drugs bud, they are shit - pushed on you to make you compliant- think of how more effective iti would have been if he hadn’t been ripped from sunrise to sunset.

TINO RANGATIRATANGA- LOL, the NZ face of racism

Re: Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - prote

You posted elsewhere - a similar comment on another indymedia page - again on obesity in Polynesians? Instead of making posts which show your fear/ loathing of Maori and are feeble attempts to provoke angry responses, educate yourself. Then come back and enter into reasoned debate. Read Proud to be White? Angela Ballara.

Re: Re: Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - p

No I just made comment on the fat arse protesters, I don't know where Polynesians came into it- err maybe if was a Freudian slip on your part. Anyway hippie, why are they fat- it's obviously not their fault that they are gluttons and that they are creating an epidemic within the health system of type two diabetes and heart disease – which is effectively asset stripping it.

And while we are at it, whose fault is it that they are world leaders, when it comes to the sexual abuse their own children, or is it just another part of their culture poor old whitie does not understand.
Maybe I should read more guilt trip books, so I can learn to look the other way like you

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul"

Call that reasoned debate? Still name calling I see. Tsk tsk. I suspect you don't really care about obesity and ill health in Polynesians (Maori and Pacific Islanders). Nor do you care to try and make connections between abuse of children - and an abused, colonised people. You just want to continue in your bigoted, angry ignorance and bitch and moan about Maori - because they represent something you don't understand. The book I recommended is not into guilt - it tries to give a historical perspective on European thinking which led to colonisation and occupation of other people's lands. And it describes the policies NZ pursued to ensure Maori stayed underheel. Reading such books helped me understand where Europe was at. Guilt doesn't have to come into it - unless that's where You want to stay and wallow. When I first heard of Maori sovereignty at a meeting in the 1980s, Maori women expressed their anger at how much we as other New Zealanders didn't know about what had been happening to them. Some people there wanted to express anger of their own but others of us chose to try and learn a history that is not taught in schools, nor is it valued or appreciated by the majority of us. I'm still learning that history and rather than looking the other way, I am thinking about how we can support Maori and work in our own communities for a positive future. Meanwhile You can carry on bitching and moaning from the sidelines.

Re: Re: "Raise your voice before you lose your soul" - protests

I'm extremely pleased to see that Peter Williams QC is now being engaged to participate regarding the concerns in Ruatoki and also the arrests , what another brilliant lawyer ( alongside , Annette and Moana & others.) He has a recent article in Scoop regarding this. Anyway he is also involved in Howard League Society ( President ) ( www.howardleague.co.nz & www.criminalbar.org.nz ) Awesome site for information re Penal insitutions etc.... Also www.corrections.govt.nz is good to get an understanding around the policies & procedures in those nasty institutions , and what they should adhere too!!! Finally , my partner was the first on Electronic bail for Hamilton City & Waikato , at the end of the term , was second longest serving , really happy to support whanau that end up on this option , it was a nasty process to get through the application but worth iT!!it had its own pressures. My email for honest , genuine persons , Please respect :ajb10 (at) waikato.ac.nz
