Demonstration against racism and fascism

The National Front and assorted other far right and fascist groups are coming to Wellington this weekend. If you oppose racism and fascism come to the demonstration and let the fascists know they are not welcome!

It is important that we show them they will not be allowed to organise without opposition. While they are tiny and insignificant compared to the organised racism of the Labour Party and the NZ Police, they are still worthy of our attention. Fascists cannot be allowed to organise and recruit openly in the streets without opposition.

The National Front and their allies have united under the name “Nationalist Alliance – New Zealands right wing coalition”. Behind the flags are the same old faces, a bunch of neo nazis, fascists and racist skinheads trying to claim they are merely patriots. Their leadership includes Kerry Bolton, a veteran fascist who runs an international nazi book distribution service, Kyle Chapman - convicted Marae arsonist, and assorted other violent racist scumbags

Dress creative: fairies, clowns etc all welcome but optional.

Re: Demonstration against racism and fascism

I don't oppose racism and fascism. They are just silly ideas. I oppose discrimination and violence because those are actions that actually effect other people's rights. Also, I just don't like uppity, freaky-looking weirdos who think they have a right to have a different opinion, and express it with boring little walks-about, rallies, and banner-waving. Can I come protest anyway?

Commander cushion -

I'm confused, which bit do you want to protest?

Re: Demonstration against racism and fascism

I thought fascism was a historic movement with its origins in 1920s Italy. It took someone on the Internet with the moniker "Commander Cushion" to tell me it was all a "silly idea".

Re: Demonstration against racism and fascism

"fascism was a historic movement"

Yes it was, now it's just a silly idea, pursued by a bunch of paranoid, under-educated yobs who like running around with prominent insignia, and inciting violence against minorities.

If I can work out which of the two groups are advocating violence and discrimination on the basis of ethnicity or beliefs (and attacking people for being guiltlessly white or having a foolish belief in the nation-state counts), my allegiance, and my pillow, belong to the other group.

On with the pillow fight!
(Slumber party at my place afterwards)

Bring on your cushions... extra feathery ones are good!!

Re: Demonstration against racism and fascism

"organised racism of the Labour Party" - care to expand on this?

Re: Demonstration against racism and fascism

"organised racism of the Labour Party" - care to expand on this?

Many examples, eg; the Seabed and Foreshore Act, the treatment of Ahmed Zaoui and other immigrants, the so-called 'Terror Raids', military operations with Indonesia, the war on Afghanistan, health, education and social welfare policies that discriminate against Maori and Pacific Islanders etc.

Re: Demonstration against racism and fascism

There is bad news about George Herbert Walker Bush.

What if basically all racial-minority people would subscribe to the interpretations that George Herbert Walker Bush committed monstrous, racist, hate crimes while he was the President of the United States?

It will eventually come out: it is only a matter of time.
