Direct Action - the only way to shut down the spy bases and stop the war
From: Peace Action Wellington
Date: 1 May 2008
We send a message of solidarity to the courageous activists who took direct action this morning to interrupt the operation of the Waihopai spy base. Peace Action Wellington gives its unconditional support and solidarity to the three people who took action against one of New Zealand's biggest contributions to the so-called 'war on terror'.
Adrian Leason, Peter Murnane and Sam Land - the three Ploughshares who entered the Waihopai spy base near Blenheim and used sickles to cut one of the two 30-metre white domes - are to be congratulated for their action.
The New Zealand government currently has troops in Afghanistan and remains a part of the US ‘military intelligence’ network through the Waihopai and
Tangimoana spy bases.
It is clear that the New Zealand government will not disengage from its relationship with the US military, therefore it is the responsibility of
all concerned people to take direct action against the war machine and surveillance state.
Peace Action Wellington stands for peace with justice and self-determination. Peace cannot be achieved by the subjugation of peoples by foreign powers. We are opposed to the endless and counterproductive "War on Terror" - instead, the conditions that drive people to resort to terrorism must be addressed.
New Zealand out of Afghanistan!
Close down the spy bases!
Solidarity with Adrian, Peter, Sam and their families!

Direct action is what it would've taken to shut down Dow Agrosciences but no one was in for it.... why?
Dow damages Aotearoa 1000 times more than Bush's listening balls. WTF?
Re: Direct Action - the only way to shut down the spy bases and
DOW... well it's never too late. We've crossed off several 'targets' so far. I wouldn't be surprised if this place wasn't next.
;o)
