Santa Takes Stand Against Tegel Cruelty

in

Santa rescues 6 Tegel chickens in Auckland.

Communique received anonymously by AAA:

Fed up with Tegel's continuous animal exploitation Santa decided to take matters into his own hands and on the night of 16th December 2005 donned his Santa suit and gained entry into a Tegel Farm in South Auckland rescuing 6 baby chickens all destined for holiday season consumption.

Tegel butcher hundreds of thousands of chickens and turkeys for the xmas period. These animals suffer in appalling conditions at the hands of Tegel who's only interest is profit!!

We will be thinking of the millions of chickens trapped in Tegel's concentration camps, as well as the Tegel Directors who will no doubt be enjoying the festive season with the money they made this year from the genocide of millions.

Re: Santa Takes Stand Against Tegel Cruelty

haha, great thumbs up! thumbs up indeed to santa and elves

Re: Santa Takes Stand Against Tegel Cruelty

congratulations on this great action!

i do however disagree with your rhetoric. I feel it's wrong to use the words 'concentration camp' and 'genocide' in relation to factory farming. For the later, because it's not true. The industry only wants profit, yes. So they don't want to exterminate chickens. I also find using the word concentration camp problematic due to its reference to the Holocaust (the mass murder of jews, homosexuals, roma, sinti, left-wingers, people with special needs under Nazi Germany). This reference is inapporpriate because it relativises the suffering of the victims of the 3rd Reich and their descendants. This then also suggests that Tegel ('the butcher') is equivalent with the Nazi dictatorship.

but yeah, great action!

On the 5th day of the Revolution, my comrades gave to me: 5 liberated factory farms!

Good on ya guys :-)

Great work, thats 6 happy chickens!

Ah, the 12 days of revolution, what a wonderful song!

Re: Santa Takes Stand Against Tegel Cruelty

hahah, thats fucking cool. go santa and your little alfs!

Re: Santa Takes Stand Against Tegel Cruelty

Those chickens don't know how damn lucky they are thanks to the ALF Santa and his little helpers!

Awesome work dudes!

"genocide"

Great action, the more successful actions the more money the industry has to spend, and the closer we come to the day when all factory farming operations close down.

I agree with "me" regarding the use of the word "genocide". I can also see where he/she is coming on regarding comparisons with the holocaust. The other side to that argument is that it's aim is not to trivialise the holocaust, but to make us think more deeply about the suffering millions of animals go through every day. Nevertheless I would tend to agree that comparisons with the Holocaust should not be made, mainly because it causes offence to survivors of the Holocaust, and because the animal slaughter industry can make political capital out of this.

Re: Santa Takes Stand Against Tegel Cruelty

Great action. Shows you that Santa can spread a bit of goodwill when he's not shoplifting, drinking beer and urinating on cars.
Regarding the comment by 'me', concentration camps go back to the Boer War so I'm ok with the term being used to describe factory farming too.

Re: Santa Takes Stand Against Tegel Cruelty

Yay! Go Santa! Go chickens! I hope the people that profit from animal cruelty have shitty a Christmas and a miserable New Year!

Re: Santa Takes Stand Against Tegel Cruelty

Millions of individuals forced to live in horrific conditions transported on trucks and slaughtered - i totally can see how the comparison can be made to the holocaust.

The eyes of pigs and cattle staring out of the slaughter trucks always reminds me of the photos and programs I have seen of the victims being transported on trains by the Nazi's.

It is basically the same, only real difference is 3rd Reich victims were people not non human animals.

A big thumbs up to Santa by the way! Brillant action!

Nice to see Santa really helping the world for once instead of giving out presents to greedy people.
