From K Garden to A Garden

Wellington has a new community garden: Arlington Community Garden! Te Aro residents moved dozens of trees today to the new location. Kensington Garden will have to make way for the inner-city 'bypass' - a road that the Te Aro community has fought against for nearly 40 years.

Up to 30 people gathered in K Garden yesterday to dig up all the plants and for a party and sleep over. Today, the plants were taken to the new garden, located on the corner of Torrens Tce and Arlington St, near the tall Arlington apartments, just up from the top of Cuba St. (It is a designated council park, currently just lawn and a few plants put in by local residents.)

Arlington residents seem qutie excited about the 'tree-arrival'. Many came out for a chat.
